Women's Tennis Edges Saint Anselm, 5-4

WESTON, Mass.Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) rallied for a match-clinching win in singles and the Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team took down Division II Saint Anselm 5-4, Tuesday at the Regis Tennis Center. The Pride improved to 10-6 on the season with Saint Anselm closing its season at 6-15.

Saint Anselm had the edge coming out of doubles play after three tightly contested matches. DiPace and Sarah Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) fell to the Hawk pair Maikah Bulpitt (Cumberland, R.I.) and Dominique Bolduc (Manchester, N.H.) at the two 8-6, but Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) evened matters, winning by the same score on the No. 1 court.

The Hawks would snag the lead heading into singles. At third doubles, the Pride tandem of Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) and Gracie Jarest (Wrentham, Mass.) were narrowly edged by Eleni Petromelis (Peabody, Mass.) and Kayla Hodas (Peabody, Mass.) 9-8 (8-6).

Regis was on the winning side of the first three singles results to come in. McCormack blanked Bulpitt to tie the match followed by decisive victories from Jarvis at the two and Donovan at the one to pull the Pride within one singles win of the victory

Petromelis swept Jarest on the No. 6 court but DiPace won the only three-set singles match of the evening to claim the win for the Pride. She rallied from a set down and won a set two tiebreak for a 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-8 win.

Regis returns to action Thursday, Apr. 19 hosting Clark at 4:00 p.m.
