Women's Tennis Closes Trip With 8-1 Win Over Penn State-Berks

ORLANDO – The Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team closed its 2018 spring break trip with an 8-1 win over Penn State-Berks on Friday at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.

Doubles play saw Regis (8-5) win two of three matches to take a one point lead heading to singles play. The Pride pair of Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) and Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) cruised to an 8-1 win at third doubles before Alyssa Miller and Violet Tran evened the match with an 8-6 win on the No. 2 court. Katasha Jarvis (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) responded at the one, beating the Berks tandem of Caroline Bashore and Laura Youwakim 8-3 to help Regis leave doubles play with the lead

Singles play belonged to the Pride. Regis swept all six matches with the match clincher coming on the No. 4 court as Carly Scanlon atoned for her No. 2 doubles loss with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Tran. McCormack and Kanarkiewicz posted the most dominant singles wins, sweeping their opponents at love on the No. 3 and No. 6 courts respectively.

DiPace was pushed to a second-set tiebreaker before eventually pulling off her second win of the day in a 6-2, 7-6 (5) win at fifth singles over Lucrezia Pulcini.

Regis returns to action for its spring home opener Wednesday, March 28 vs. Clark. Start time is set for 4:00 p.m.
