WINCHESTER, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team's season came to a close in the semifinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament, falling 5-1 to Simmons Saturday at the Winchester Indoor Tennis Center.

Simmons (11-5) moves on to play Johnson & Wales (RI) in Sunday's championship match. The Pride finish its first season in the GNAC, a successful one at that, with a 7-4 record.

Regis found itself in a deep hole after dropping all three doubles matches. Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) and Katasha Jarvis (Mt Vernon, N.Y.) played the closest doubles match on the one court, falling 8-6 to Jessica Schroedl and Olivia Lakes. Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) and Carly Scanlon (Canton, Mass.) fell at two doubles and Kailey Myers (Norwalk, Calif.) and Gracie Jarest (Wrentham, Mass.) were blanked on the No. 3 court.

Donovan's win at one singles came in first, a 6-2, 6-0 defeat of Schroedl which kept the Pride in the match, but the win proved to be the only one for Regis on the afternoon. Myers and Jarest both went down on the No. 5 and No. 6 courts, respectively, to give the Sharks the match-clinching fifth point.

The loss concludes the fall season for Regis who picks up competition next March with its annual trip to Orlando, Fla.
