Scanlon Named NECC Rookie of the Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Carly Scanlon (Canton, Mass.) a freshman on the Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team, has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week. The announcement came from the conference on Monday afternoon.

The women's tennis team went 2-0 on the week to improve to 3-1 overall on the season, and Scanlon was vital to her team's success. The freshman opened her week on Tuesday by winning the deciding match in fifth singles against Suffolk. After dropping the first set, Scanlon rallied to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, giving the Pride the 5-4 victory.

Scanlon followed up with a strong performance in the Pride's NECC Opener on Saturday, as she and partner Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) won at No. 1 doubles 8-3. The victory propelled Regis to an 8-1 win over Becker.

Scanlon and the rest of the Regis women's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Bay Path to take on the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m.
