Lord, McCormack Nab Top Honors in NECC, Six-Named All-Conference

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – One day after claiming its fifth consecutive New England Collegiate Conference championship, the Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team led the way in the NECC All Conference honors announced Monday afternoon. Senior Jessie Lord was named NECC Player of the Year, while freshman Ariana McCormack earned NECC Rookie of the Year honors.

Jessie Lord has been named the NECC Player of the Year for the third consecutive year after leading the Pride to their fifth straight conference title. The Fall River, Mass. native compiled a perfect record of 5-0 at No. 1 doubles with partner Ariana McCormack. Lord finished with a 3-1 record at No. 2 singles, with her only loss coming in a third set tie breaker this season.

Rookie of the Year winner Ariana McCormack made a great impact in her first year with the Pride. The Worcester, Mass. native finished with a perfect 4-0 record playing between second and third singles, while also remaining perfect at No. 1 doubles.

Lord and McCormack also earned first team honors in both singles and doubles for their incredible season. The Pride’s final representative on the All NECC First Team for singles was junior Erica Murphy, while senior Emily Rice and junior Amy DiPace earned doubles honors.  

Lesley University placed two members on the NECC All Conference Singles Team sophomore Caroline Kiddie and freshman Maddie Abbott. The duo also landed on the NECC All Conference doubles team with partners Theresa Pereira and Carlyn Barker respectively.

The final NECC All Conference Singles Team honoree was sophomore Emily Wodell from Becker College.

Lesley had an incredible season finishing the regular season second in the standings with their only losses coming at the hand of Regis. Second year head coach Shawna Sarson earned herself the 2016 NECC Coach of the Year with a finial season record of 8-5.
