NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Carly Scanlon (Canton, Mass.) won at both doubles and singles to help the Regis (Mass.) women's tennis team rally for a 5-4 win over Smith College, Wednesday at the Indoor Track and Tennis Facility.

The Pride improve to an impressive 14-1 on the season while the Pioneers drop to 4-8.

Regis dropped two doubles matches to trail 2-1 heading into the singles play. In the number one position, Noe Dubin (Southampton, N.Y.) and Margaret Anne Smith (Spring Lake, N.J.) made quick work of the Pride pair of Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) but Lord and Scanlon teamed up to even the score with their 8-3 win on the No. 2 court.

To give Smith the 2-1 lead going into singles, Christine Yee (South San Francisco, Calif.) and Leigh Johnston (Kaneohe, O'ahu) had to battle through a tough match at the three against Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.). The pair went up 7-6 with two match points that Regis battled to save sending the set into a tie-break. In the tie-break, Yee and Johnston went up early and closed out the set 8-7.

Singles saw the results come in in back-and-forth fashion but it was Kanarkiewicz that earned the decisive point, beating Tess Ostoyich at six singles to clinch the win for the Pride. Also picking up singles wins to set the stage for Kanarkiewicz's win were Lord and Jarvis at the No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, and Scanlon on the No. 5 court.

Regis retakes the court this Saturday, Apr. 8 for Senior Day against Wentworth. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m. Smith also next takes the court this Saturday against Mount Holyoke.
