PRIDE TENNIS SWEPT IN DAY ONE OF SPRING BREAK TRIP

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Regis College men's and women's tennis teams were swept by non-conference opponent Judson University (Ill.) Sunday evening in Orlando during the first day of their spring break trip. The Pride women dropped a 6-3 decision in a close contest while the Pride men were beaten 8-1.

For the Pride women, Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) took No. 1 singles in a three set tie breaker defeating Marcilyn Rowan 2-6, 6-2, 10-3. Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) and Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) took their opponents took their opponents to match tiebreakers and played well in losing records. In doubles play, the duos of Lord/Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Medeiros/DiPace delivered the Pride's second and third points with scores of 8-2 and 9-7 respectively.

On the men's side, junior Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) took the only match of the afternoon for the Crimson and Gold as he defeated Michael Bruen 6-3, 6-2. The No. 1 doubles squad of Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) played well in an 8-5 setback.

Bot squads return to action tomorrow with the Pride men squaring off against Moravian at 9:00 a.m. and the Pride women's hitting the court thirty minutes later at 9:30 a.m.
