PRIDE SWEEP NECC HONORS AFTER CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College's Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week in women's tennis, while freshman Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) has been named the Rookie of the Week. Murphy and Jarvis helped lead the Pride to their fourth-straight NECC Championship this past weekend.

Murphy posted a perfect 2-0 mark at both No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles in the Semifinals and Championship match. In a 9-0 sweep of #4 Bay Path University in the NECC Semifinals, Murphy posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and teamed with Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. On Sunday, Murphy grabbed a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, while she and Lord rallied for an 8-5 win in doubles play as part of the Pride's 8-1 victory.

For her efforts, Murphy was named the NECC Tournament MVP and earned a spot on both the All-Tournament Singles and Doubles Teams.

Katasha Jarvis was equally as dominant this past weekend, posting a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles against Bay Path, and following that up with a 6-1, 6-0 win against Lesley. Jarvis and Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) teamed for an 8-2 win against Bay Path and an 8-1 win over Lesley en route to All-Tournament Doubles Team selections.
