LORD, JARVIS SWEEP NECC AWARDS FOR SECOND TIME

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College junior Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) has been named this week's New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) has been named the Rookie of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon. This is the second time this season Lord and Jarvis have swept the NECC women's tennis weekly awards.

Lord helped lead the Pride to a pair of NECC wins this week. In an 8-1 win over Lesley, Lord teamed with Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, before cruising in her No. 2 singles matchup, 6-0, 6-0. Lord and Murphy won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles as part of a 9-0 sweep of Bay Path. The junior was also victorious at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win. This is the third consecutive week Lord has been named the Player of the Week.

Jarvis also helped lead the Pride to a 2-0 mark in NECC matches this week. Jarvis teamed with Emily Rice for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles before posting a 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles in an 8-1 win against Lesley. She followed that up with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles and an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles as part of a 9-0 sweep of Bay Path. This is the third straight week and fourth time this season Jarvis has been named Rookie of the Week.

Regis returns to the courts today as they square off against conference opponent Newbury at 5:00 p.m.
