PRIDE SINK MARINERS IN NECC ACTION

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College rebounded from their first setback of the season with a 9-0 victory over Mitchell College on Wednesday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis action. The Pride remain unbeaten in the NECC at 4-0 and improve to 5-1 overall. Mitchell drops to 2-3, 2-2 NECC with the defeat.

The Pride jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead following doubles play as Regis allowed only one point across the three matchups. Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) teamed for an 8-0 sweep of Heather Schall (Hopatcong, N.J.) and Samantha Ryan (Quaker Hill, Conn.) at No. 1 doubles, while Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) followed suit with an 8-0 sweep of Dominique Lacroix (Parker, Colo.) and Veyda McVey (Wallingford, Conn.) at No. 2 doubles.

Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) and Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) would add an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles over Lehayla Cruz (Bridgeport, Conn.) and Brittany Fuller (Bolton, Conn.).

The Pride would sweep singles play as Katasha Jarvis, Jewel Medeiros, and Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) would post matching 6-0, 6-0 scores at No.'s 4, 5, and 6 singles, respectively. Emily Rice defeated Veyda McVey, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, while Jessie Lord added a 6-3 ,6-1 win over Samantha Ryan at No. 1 singles. Erica Murphy handed Heather Schall a 6-0, 6-1 setback at No. 2 singles.

The Crimson and Gold return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Becker College (5-5, 4-0 NECC) in a matchup of the top two teams in the NECC at 2:00 p.m. Mitchell will host Bay Path University on Saturday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
