LORD, JARVIS SWEEP WEEKLY TENNIS AWARDS

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College junior Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) has been named this week's New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) has been named the Rookie of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon.

Lord helped lead the Pride to a pair of 9-0 sweeps over Bay Path and Newbury in NECC action this week. Lord teamed with Erica Murphy to go 2-0 at No. 1 doubles, including an 8-3 win against Bay Path and an 8-1 win over Newbury. Lord was also unbeaten at No. 1 singles, posting matching 6-1, 6-1 wins in both matches. This is the second straight week Lord has been named the Player of the Week.

Jarvis helped lead the Pride to a pair of 9-0 sweeps over Bay Path and Newbury in NECC action this week. Jarvis and Emily Rice were a perfect 2-0 at No. 2 doubles, posting an 8-1 win against Bay Path and an 8-0 win against Newbury. In singles play, Jarvis was unblemished at No. 4 singles, winning against Bay Path, 6-0, 6-3, and adding a straight-set, 6-0, 6-0 win against Newbury. This is the second time this season Jarvis has been named Rookie of the Week.

Regis returns to the courts today as they square off against non-conference opponent Johnson & Wales (R.I.) at 4:30 p.m.
