REGIS TENNIS PROGAMS HONORED BY ITA

SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Regis College men's and women's tennis teams have both been named Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Teams, it was announced by the ITA last week. Five members of the program also earned the distinction of ITA Scholar Athletes.

On the women's side, Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.), Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.), and Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) were named ITA Scholar Athletes. Medeiros earns her third-straight honor, while DiPace and Kanarkiewicz grabbed their first honors.

For the men, graduating senior Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) adds another honor to his storied career, being named an ITA Scholar Athlete for the fourth-time. The four-time NECC Player of the Year, Beluch was also named the NECC Senior Student-Athlete of the Year earlier this spring.

Joining him as an ITA Scholar Athlete is sophomore Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.), who earns his second Scholar Athlete award.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CA JUCO eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2014 and spring 2015).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
