REGIS WINS UMASS BOSTON INVITATIONAL

BOSTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's tennis team captured the top spot at the UMass Boston Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

The invite, hosted by UMASS Boston, also had Clark University and the Wentworth Institute of Technology competing against each other.

The Pride won the overall crown with 6 points, while Wentworth finished second with 4.5, followed by UMass Boston (3.5) and Clark (2). Each win in the main draw was worth 1 point, while each win in the consolation bracket was worth .5 points.

Doubles was the key to victory as the two Regis doubles teams won two rounds each and met in the finals with Emily Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) and Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) defeating Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) and Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.), 8-3 in the finals.

Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) each took place in the singles draws, with Murphy winning the Consolation bracket.

The Crimson and Gold return to action on Friday, April 17th with a match aganst Worcester State at 4:30 p.m.
