WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's team defeated the Wentworth Institute of Technology, 6-1, on Friday night at the Longfellow Tennis Club in Wayland, Mass. The Pride improves to 14-4 on the year, while Wentworth drops to 3-11.

Regis jumped out to a 3-0 lead following doubles play as Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Emily Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) defeated Caitlin Corcoran (Brockton, Mass.) and Caitlyn Briggs (Lee, Mass.) 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 tandem of Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) won their matchup with Emily Jodoin (Burrillville, R.I.) and Nicole McColgan (Tewksbury, Mass.) by the matching score. Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) added an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Murphy picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win over Briggs at No. 2 singles. Emily Morgenbesser defeated McColgan, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, while Medeiros swept Stephanie Nguyen (Medford, Mass.), 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.

Wentworth's lone point of the match came at the No. 1 singles position as Corcoran defeated Jessie Lord, 6-1, 6-0.

The No. 4 and No. 6 matches went unfinished as it became too late to complete the match.

Both teams are back in action on Sunday when they will take place in the UMass Boston Invitational starting at 10:00 a.m.
