SEAHAWKS SOAR PAST PRIDE, 6-3

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Regis College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Salve Regina University on Monday afternoon in Newport, R.I. The Pride fall to 13-4 on the year, while Salve improved to 5-8.

Regis dropped two of the three doubles matches with Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) and Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) grabbed an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles. Emily Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) fell at No. 1 doubles, 8-3, while the duo of Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) and Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) dropped their No. 2 doubles matchup by the matching score.

In singles play, Erica Muprhy posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Morgenbesser defeated Taylor Amendola 6-4, 6-2 for the Pride's other point in singles. Jessie Lord came close to picking up a point at No. 1 singles, but fell to Emma Gruber, 7-5, 7-5.

Jewel Medeiros won the opening set of her No. 5 matchup with Cristina Marsocci, 6-2, but dropped the second set, 6-4. In the tie-break, Marsocci grabbed a 7-6 (7-4) win to take the match.

Regis will take on Wentworth on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
