PRIDE EARN 10TH-STRAIGHT VICTORY

ORLANDO – After winning the New England Collegiate Conference Championship five month ago, the Regis College women's tennis team returned to action with the spring slate of games defeating Eastern University 8-1 on Monday morning. With the victory, the Pride improve their winning streak to 10 games and improve to 12-1 on the year. The loss drops the Eagles to 1-2 on the young campaign.

Regis jumped out to an early 2-1 lead following doubles play. The first set at No. 1 doubles belonged to the Eagles as the duo of Megan Klosterman (Fort Washington, Pa.) and Laura Thomas (East Petersburg, Pa.) as the defeated Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) in a tightly contest match 9-7. After losing No. 1 doubles, the Pride responded by not losing another set the rest of the match. Emily Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) and Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) took No. 2 doubles over Kelly Archibold (Gap, Pa.) and Leslie Henry (Trenton, N.J.) by an 8-1 margin. Regis snagged the rubber match during No. 3 doubles after Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) and her partner Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) made quick work of their opponents Angela Anthony (Warwick, Md.) and Emily Thomas (North Haledon, N.J.) 8-1.

The Crimson and Gold swept all their singles matches with Lord defeating Klosterman 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Murphy beating Thomas at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-3, Morgenbesser getting by Archibold 7-6 (10-3), 6-1 and Emily Rice sealing the match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Angela Anthony.

The Pride return to action tomorrow, March 3rd when they square off against Morningside at 10:00 a.m
