JESSIE LORD NAMED NECC PLAYER OF THE YEAR

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College sophomore Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference's women's Tennis Player of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league offices. Lord helped lead the Pride (11-1) to their third-straight NECC Championship this past weekend.

Head coach John Ciarleglio was named the NECC Coach of the Year for the first time on the women's side. The Pride have won 26-straight matches against NECC opponents, including a pair of perfect seasons and the three conference titles.

Joining Lord on the All-Conference First Team Singles squad was sophomore Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.). Lord and co-captain Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) were named to the All-Conference First Team in Doubles, while Murphy and Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) were named All-Conference Honorable Mention in Doubles.

Lord posted a 9-3 mark in singles play this year, including a 6-2 mark in NECC matches. The co-captain duo of Lord and Medeiros posted a 5-2 mark as a doubles tandem at the No. 1 position, and they went 4-1 in NECC matches. The two honors mark Lord's fourth All-NECC selections after a First Team Doubles pick and a Second Team Singles nod last season. Medeiros was named to an All-Conference Team for the third-straight year after back-to-back First Team Singles and Doubles selections in 2012 and 2013.

Erica Murphy went 9-2 in singles play this year, mostly at the No. 2 position, where she was 5-1. In conference play, Murphy went 6-1 at singles, and teamed with classmate Emily Rice to go 5-3 overall and 4-1 in the NECC in doubles play. These are Murphy's first All-NECC selections, while Emily Rice was named to both the First Team Singles and Doubles Teams last year while being named the NECC Rookie of the Year.

This year, that award went to Lesley University freshman Caroline Kiddie, who went 7-1 at No. 1 singles this season. Becker College was awarded the NECC Team Sportsmanship Award.
