REGIS TABBED TOP SEED IN NECC TOURNAMENT

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the third-straight season, the Regis College women's tennis team has earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis tournament. The Pride (9-1) are in pursuit of their third consecutive NECC Championship.

Regis will host No. 4 seed Becker College (3-12) on Saturday afternoon in an NECC Semifinal match starting at 2:00 p.m. The Pride are 2-0 against the Hawks this year with a pair of 9-0 victories. Regis and Becker met in last year's NECC Semifinals, a 9-0 win for the Pride.

The Pride have been led by their strong doubles play as the captain duo of Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) and Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) are 5-2 at No. 1 doubles, while the sophomore combo of Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) are 4-2. The Pride are 23-7 in doubles matches this season.

In singles, rookie Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) is a perfect 7-0 in singles play, with Jewel Medeiros right behind her at 8-1 on the year. Murphy went 6-1 in NECC singles play for the Pride.

In the other NECC Semifinal, #2 Lesley University (10-3) will host #3 Bay Path University (4-8) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Lesley won both matches against the Wildcats this year, 7-2 and 5-4.

The NECC Championship match will be held on Sunday afternoon on the campus of Regis College.
