PRIDE SWEEP NECC WEEKLY AWARDS

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College sophomore Erica Murphy (Manchester, N.H.) has been named this week's New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) has been named the Rookie of the Week, it was announced Monday morning.

Murphy began the week with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, and teamed with Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles in the Pride's 9-0 victory over Becker. Murphy picked up another win at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 decision as part of a 7-1 win over Lesley. She wrapped up the week with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, and an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles in an 8-1 victory over Bay Path University.

DiPace teamed with fellow freshman Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles as part of a 9-0 win over Becker College. The duo combined for an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles, and DiPace had a 6-2, 6-1 win in No. 5 singles as the Pride defeated Lesley, 7-1. She wrapped up the week with an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles, and a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles in the Pride's 8-1 victory over Bay Path. This is DiPace's third NECC rookie selection this season.

Regis wraps up regular season play when they travel to New London, Conn to square off against conference foe Mitchell College on Friday October 10th with game-time slated for 3:00 p.m. The Pride have their eyes on a third straight conference championship as the NECC Semifinals begin on Wednesday October 15th.
