WEHR & RICE CLAIM NECC WEEKLY AWARDS

WESTON, Mass. – A pair of Regis College women's tennis players have swept the weekly honors from the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). Sophomore Abbie Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) was named the NECC Player of the Week, while freshman Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) was selected as the NECC Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league's offices earlier this week.

Both Wehr and Rice were perfect in their matches this past week to help the Pride complete the NECC regular season undefeated at 8-0 after a 9-0 sweep of Mitchell. The pair teamed up at No. 1 doubles and defeated their opponents, 8-0. Wehr also won her match at first singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Rice claimed a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles.

At the end of the regular season, both players are 8-0 in both singles and doubles conference play.

Wehr, Rice, and the rest of the Pride (9-2) will host Becker for the NECC Semifinals at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
