PRIDE RALLY PAST ENC FOR 5-4 WIN

QUINCY, Mass. – Regis College rallied from a 2-1 deficit following doubles play to grab a 5-4 victory over Eastern Nazarene College on Monday afternoon in Quincy, Mass. Regis improves to 3-2 on the year, while Lions fall to 1-7.

Abbie Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) and Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) grabbed the lone point of doubles play with an 8-2 win over Kathryn McLaughlin (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) at No. 1 doubles.

ENC's Sarah Layton (Bonney Lake, Wash.) and Juju Atwater (Weymouth, Mass.) edged Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) and Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) from Regis at the No. 2 doubles spot, 8-6. Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) and Kelsey Waddle (Olathe, Kan.) topped Erika Palmer (Southborough, Mass.) and Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) 8-4 at the third position.

The visitors captured four wins in singles action to secure their second-straight victory.

McLaughlin fell to Wehr at the No. 1 position 6-0, 6-0 and Burrello dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Rice at the second slot. Layton absorbed a 6-0, 6-0 loss at the third spot to Lord while Lariviere was edged by Kat Troisi at the sixth position 6-4, 7-6 for the deciding point in the match.

Atwater picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 4 singles spot while Waddle earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the fifth position for the Lions.

The Pride return to NECC action on Saturday afternoon when Regis hosts Mitchell College in a 1:00 p.m. contest as a part of Pride Fest.
