PRIDE SWEEP NECC WEEKLY AWARDS

WESTON, Mass. – Junior Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass.) and freshman Abigail Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) were named the New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference offices earlier this morning. Roche and Wehr were both key components in the Pride picking up their first NECC Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Roche and teammate Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) won a crucial match in No.2 doubles over Bay Path by an 8-3 score. The win helped the Pride go on to defeat the Wildcats, 5-4 and capture the Championship. The pair was rewarded for their solid play by being named to the NECC All-Tournament Doubles Team.

Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) picks up her third Rookie of the Week honors from the conference. The freshman went a perfect 2-0 in both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles play, picking up victories in the NECC Semifinal and Championship. Wehr teamed up with classmate Jazz Hicks (Plymouth, Mass.) at No. 1 doubles, and the pair was named to the NECC All-Tournament Doubles Team for their performance. Wehr was also awarded the NECC Tournament MVP for her efforts.

Regis College concludes its season with a stellar 13-1 overall record, including a 9-1 record in conference play.
