VIKINGS BLANK PRIDE, 9-0

SALEM, Mass. – Visiting Regis College fell to Salem State in spring women's tennis play on Wednesday afternoon, 9-0. Senior Michelle McEwen (Billerica, Mass.) spearheaded the victory with wins at top flight singles and doubles to help the Vikings register the win. Salem State now stands at 1-0 in the spring, while the Pride fall to 13-7 on the year.

McEwen defeated Abigail Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.), 6-1, 2-6, 12-10 at No. 1 singles, and teamed with Jessica Spinale (Saugus, MA) in No. 1 doubles to defeat Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass.) and Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.), 8-0. Spinale was victorious over Kolb in No.2 singles (6-0, 6-1) as Salem State swept the remainder of the singles portion of play.

Anna Yaskell (Stockholm, Sweden) and Lauren Woods (Burlington, Mass.) defeated Wehr and Erika Palmer (Southborough, Mass.), 9-7 in second doubles while Tara Garvey (Palma, Mass.) and Emily Yanchun (Saugus, Mass.) won 8-6 in third doubles.

The Pride will wrap up the year by hosting the Women's Tennis Invitational April 13 at 10:00 a.m.
