GREYHOUNDS RACE PAST PRIDE, 9-0

WESTON, Mass. – Assumption College defeated Regis College, 9-0, on Monday afternoon in non-conference women's tennis action in Weston, Mass. The Pride drop to 13-6 on the year, while the Greyhounds improve to 5-13.

Assumption jumped out to an early 3-0 lead following doubles play as Erica Micciche (Framingham, Mass.) and Cassy Waung (Bolton, Mass.) defeated Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass.) and Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.) in No. 1 doubles, 8-2. Paige Gilet (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Melanie McCauley (Charlestown, R.I.) added a win in No. 2 doubles by the same score of 8-2 over Abigail Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) and Erika Palmer (Southborough, Mass.).

Allison Gorman (Rumford, R.I.) and Emily Parravano (Arlington, Mass.) rounded out doubles play for the Greyhounds with an 8-5 win over Vanneyra Chum (Lowell, Mass.) and Melinda Mara (Pelham, N.H.).

Micciche defeated Wehr in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Gilet downed Kolb in the second singles spot, 6-0, 6-2. Cassy Waung and Meghan Hall added matching 6-0, 6-0 wins in No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively. Melanie McCauley added a 6-1, 6-0 win over Mara in No. 5 singles and Allison Gorman rounded out singles play with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Vanneyra Chum in the final singles position.

The Pride continue the search for their first win of the spring on Wednesday afternoon in a 3:30 p.m. matchup with Salem State University. The Greyhounds return to Northeast 10 action tomorrow afternoon when Assumption hosts Saint Michael's in a 3:30 p.m. match.
