REGIS STAYS PERFECT IN 9-0 SWEEP OF MARINERS

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's tennis team improved to a perfect 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference following a 9-0 shutout over Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon. The Mariners fall to 2-5 and 2-3 in league play with the setback.

The Pride jumped out to an early 3-0 lead following doubles play as Regis swept all three matchups. Abigail Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) and Jazz Hicks (Plymouth, Mass.) picked up an 8-1 win in No. 1 doubles over Carly Paterson (Gales Ferry, Conn.) and Alexa Litwak (Dix Hills, N.Y.), while Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass.) and Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) posted an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles.

Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.) and Vanneyra Chum (Lowell, Mass.) added an 8-0 win over Dominique Lacroix (Parker, Colo.) and Veyda McVey in No. 3 doubles.

Wehr, Hicks, Medeiros, and Roche all picked up wins in their respective singles matches to seal the victory. Melinda Mara (Pelham, N.H.) added a win in No. 5 singles over Lacroix, 6-1, 6-0, while Maryse Emungu (South Burlington, Vt.) rounded out singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over McVey in No. 6 singles.

The Pride look to move to 8-0 on Monday afternoon as the Pride hosts defending NECC Champion Becker College in a 5:00 p.m. matchup. Mitchell looks to avoid a three-game skid when the Mariners travel to Bay Path College on Tuesday afternoon in an NECC match scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
