REGIS WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT MATCH

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College won its fifth straight match to open the season with an 8-1 win over visiting Eastern Nazarene College on a chilly Monday night in Weston, Mass. The Pride moves to 5-0 overall with the win, while the Lions drop to 2-6 on the year.

Regis jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after doubles play as current NECC Rookie of the Week Abigail Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) and Jazz Hicks (Plymouth, Mass.) defeated Elise Sleeper (Sanford, Maine) and Sharon Lemire (Lyndeboro, N.H.) at No. 1 doubles, 8-5. The No. 2 doubles tandem of Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass.) and Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) defeated ENC's Kathryn McLaughlin (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Kelsey Waddle (Olathe, Kan.) by a score of 8-1.

The sophomore duo of Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.) and Erika Palmer (Southborough, Mass.) rounded out doubles play with an 8-3 win in No. 3 doubles over Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Monica Gonzalez (Somerville, Mass.).

The Pride continued their strong play in singles action as Wehr, Hicks and Kolb were all victorious in their singles matches at No.'s 1, 2, and 3 singles, respectively. Jewel Medeiros posted a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 win in her No. 4 singles win over Gonzales, and Melinda Mara (Pelham, N.H.) grabbed the final point for Regis in No. 6 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kelsey Waddle.

Eastern Nazarene's Tressa Burrello needed a third set and a second set tiebreaker to grab the Lions' lone point of the day, defeating Caroline Roche, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 10-6.

Regis looks to make it six straight when the Pride hosts Newbury College on Wednesday night at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Nazarene will try and snap a three-game skid on Thursday as ENC hosts Gordon College in a CCC match at 4:00 p.m.
