PRIDE RALLIES PAST BAY PATH, 5-4

WESTON, Mass. – After dropping two of the three doubles matches on the day, Regis College rallied to win four of the six singles matches en route to a 5-4 victory over visiting Bay Path College in New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon. The Pride pushes their record to 4-0 and 2-0 in the NECC, while Bay Path falls to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Bay Path College jumped out to an early 2-1 lead following doubles play to start the day. Teanna Montoya (Edgartown, Mass.) and Abigail Janneke (Waterbury, Conn.) defeated Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass.) and Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.), 9-8 (7-4) at No. 2 doubles, while Bay Path's Brittany Walsh (North Smithfield, R.I.) and Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y.) defeated Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.) and Erika Palmer (Southborough, Mass.), 8-2 in No. 3 doubles.

Regis' Abigail Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) and Jazz Hicks (Plymouth, Mass.) picked up the lone doubles point for Regis with their 8-3 win over Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) and Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass.) in No. 1 doubles.

Wehr and Hicks continued their strong play as they moved into their singles matches with Wehr grabbing a 6-4, 6-5 win over Watson at No. 1 singles and Hicks defeating Morin in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Melinda Mara (Pelham, N.H.) grabbed another point for the Pride in No. 6 singles with her 6-4, 6-1 win over Janneke.

Bay Path picked up a pair of singles wins as Brittany Walsh defeated Kendall Kolb in three sets at No. 3 singles, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Taylor Wood grabbed the other singles win for the Wildcats with her 6-4, 6-1 win over Caroline Roche in No. 5 singles.

Jewel Medeiros grabbed the deciding point for Regis at No. 4 singles as she rebounded from a 3-6 loss in the first set to post 6-2, 6-4 scores in the final two sets for the win over Teanna Montoya.

The Pride look to continue their strong start to the season on Monday as the Pride hosts Eastern Nazarene College in a non-league contest at 5:00 p.m. Bay Path will try and rebound on Sunday when they travel to Mount Ida College for a non-conference match at 12:00 p.m.
