PRIDE SWEEP LYNX, 9-0

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College shut out the visiting Lesley University Lynx, 9-0, on Thursday night in New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis action in Weston, Mass. The Pride improve to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the NECC, while Lesley falls to 0-4 and 0-2 in league play.

The Pride jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in doubles play as all three doubles combos won by set scores of 8-2. Abigail Wehr (Suwanee, Ga.) and current NECC Rookie of the Week Jazz Hicks (Plymouth, Mass.) picked up the win in No. 1 doubles, while Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass.) and Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) were victorious in No. 2 doubles. Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, Mass.) and Erika Palmer (Southborough, Mass.) rounded out doubles play with a win in No. 3 doubles.

Singles play was much of the same as the Pride swept all six singles matches. Wehr and Hicks won their No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches by matching scores of 6-1, 6-0, respectively. Kolb and Medeiros won by matching scores as well at 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Caroline Roche picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win in No. 5 singles, while Melinda Mara (Pelham, N.H.) registered her first career collegiate victory at No. 6 singles with a 7-6 (7-0), 6-3 win.

The Pride return to action on Saturday afternoon when Regis hosts Bay Path College in a 12:00 p.m. match as a part of the first annual Pride Fest. Lesley continues the search for its first win of the season on Saturday when the Lynx travel to Mitchell College for a 12:00 p.m. match.
