PRIDE SET TO TAKE ON SCOTS

Weston, Mass. ---The Regis College women's tennis team takes on Gordon College Tuesday (Sept. 7) at the Regis College Athletic Fields. The Pride enters the contest 0-2 after dropping matches to Becker College and Endicott College earlier this month. The Scots enter the contest 0-2 after losing matches to Bridgewater State and Roger Williams early this season.

Leading the Pride is junior captain Mary Jane Barron. Barron had a strong performance against Endicott, but was forced to retire due to an ankle injury. In doubles Freshman Paige Pasley (Dorchester, Mass./Fontbonne Academy ) and Kunjan Patel (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) started out strong for the Pride but could not hold on, dropping their doubles set by only 4 points.

In 2010 the Scots return three players from the 2009 team that will compete this fall. The Scots are led by Senior Captain Jessica Greenwood (Bethel, Conn.) who helped lead the Scots to a 5-9 record in 2009. Freshman Katherine Stephens (El Paso, Texas.), won her set against Bridgewater (6-3, 6-2) and hopes to continue this trend for the rest of the season. In doubles, junior Kallie Garrett (Bend, Ore./Bend Senior High) and senior Hannah Osgood (Rochester, NH./Coe-Brown) return to lead the Scots in doubles play.

The Matches are set to start at 4:30 pm and will be played at the Regis Athletics Tennis Courts.
