MCCARTHY HANDED FIRST LOSS, PRIDE FALL 9-0 TO ENDICOTT

Weston, Mass.-Endicott College wasted little time dispatching it's the Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent, defeating Regis College 9-0 Sunday. Kate Cioffi (Essex, V.T.) handed Megan McCarthy (Norfolk, Mass.), the Pride's most dominant player, her first loss in two seasons.

McCarthy is the TCCC reigning rookie and player of the year from 2008. She was 22-0 until being defeated 6-3, 6-1 by Cioffi.

In Sunday's match-up, Cioffi joined Alyson Boehm (Lowell, Mass.) to defeat McCarthy and Ally Kuchera (Waltham, Mass.) 8-1 in doubles play. Boehm played in the No. 4 singles position, and defeated MaryJane Barron(Whitinsville, Mass.) 6-0, 6-0.

Kuchera was the only other Pride member to score against the talented Endicott team.

Regis defaulted its No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions.

Nicole Breting (Johnston, R. I.) and Lori Wardner (Wrentham, Mass.) handed an impressive 8-1 doubles defeat to Barron and Georgia Cowart (Hopkinton, Mass.) to end the match.
