WORCESTER, Mass. – Regis College secured multiple top-three finishes on the opening day of the 2025 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimming and Diving Championships at the WPI Sports and Recreation Center.
Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa) led the Pride with two individual medals, placing second in both the men's 400-yard IM and the men's 50-yard butterfly. Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) earned a third-place finish in the men's 100-yard backstroke, while Aryaman Nagaraj (Watertown, Mass.) took third in the men's 200-yard backstroke.
The relay team of Werner, Nagaraj, Josh Dion, and Michael Zammuto (Burlington, Mass.) also delivered a strong performance, finishing third in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay with a combined time of 3:47.12.
On the women's side, Kali Taylor (Brattleboro, Vt.) made an impressive GNAC Championship debut, finishing second in the women's 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:42.58. Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.), Olivia Luhnau (Castle Rock, Colo.), Ava Hubster (Crown Point, Ind.), and Taylor teamed up for a fourth-place finish in the women's 200-yard medley relay at 1:59.25.
Aptt also placed fifth in the women's 400-yard IM (5:33.97), while Taylor added a fifth-place finish in the women's 200-yard freestyle. Luhnau narrowly missed a third place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing just four-hundredths of a second behind Julia Long of Simmons University.
At the end of the first day, both the Regis men's and women's teams stood in third place, with the women earning 212 points and the men tallying 54 points.
The 2025 GNAC Swimming and Diving Championships continue Saturday, Feb. 8, with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m.
