Regis Swimmers Return to Pool at Roger Williams Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. - Several members of the Regis College swimming and diving team posted strong performances Saturday as the Pride competed at the Roger Williams Invitational at the RWU Aquatics Center.

In the first event of the day, the quartet of Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.), Abby Parker (Peru, Mass.), Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.), and Olivia Luhnau (Castle Rock, Colo.) finished third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:05.76. Miller also posted the best individual finish for the Pride women, placing fourth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.44, followed by Aptt in eighth place in 1:09.91.

Luhnau finished seventh in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.67 seconds, plus she finished 11th in the 100 backstroke in 1:11.19. Aptt also placed 11th in the 200 individual medley in 2:35.44, plus she led off the 400 freestyle relay, teaming with Miller, Jenna Silva (New Bedford, Mass.), and Luhnau for an overall time of 4:19.97, good enough for fifth place.

Ava Hubster (Crown Point, Ind.) finished ninth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:16.45 as well as 11th in the 100 butterfly in 1:12.06, 1/100th of a second behind Miller in 10th place at 1:12.05. As a team, the Regis women finished fourth out of seven teams with 101 total points.

The Pride men were led by Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa), who finished fourth in the 100 butterfly in 55.81 seconds, seventh in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:10.20, and ninth in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.93, 2/100ths of a second ahead of Aryaman Nagaraj (Watertown, Mass.) in 10th place at 1:01.95. Nagaraj placed seventh in the 100 freestyle in 51.82 seconds and eighth in the 50 freestyle in 23.80 seconds.

Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) ended up sixth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.21 as well as ninth in the 200 individual medley in 2:11.05. Also in the 100 butterfly, Samuel Madriz (Union, N.J.) finished in 13th place with a time of 1:01.05.

Nagaraj, Madriz, Werner, and Kim combined for a fourth place finish in the 200 freestyle relay with an overall time of 1:38.15 as well as a fourth place finish in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:38.26. As a team, the Pride men ended up in fourth place in the team standings with 94 points.

Regis College returns home for a dual meet against Plymouth State University Friday, Nov. 3, starting at 6 p.m. at the Regis Pool.
