Cashman Murphy Competes at NCAA Division III Region 3 Diving Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Senior Cashman Murphy (Westwood, Mass.) became the second Regis College student-athlete in the last four years to participate in the NCAA Division III Region 3 Diving Championships, hosted Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25, by New York University at the Palladium Natatorium.

In the one meter diving competition Saturday, Murphy finished in 25th place with an 11-dive score of 328.85. Issara Schmidt of NYU won the event with a total score of 425.90.

Murphy's best dive of the session came in the 10th round, when she completed an inward 1.5-somersault in the tuck position with a 2.2 degree of difficulty. She received a 7.0 from one of the judges and totaled 19.0 for the three counting scores, equaling 41.80 when multiplied by the degree of difficulty.

Murphy joins assistant coach Elisabeth McQuaid as NCAA regional participants representing Regis over the past four years, as McQuaid, a junior at the time, posted a score of 328.10 in 2019.

For Murphy, this concludes a 2022-23 season that saw her win the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) one meter diving title for the second time in as many seasons, breaking the championship meet and Simmons University pool record in the process.

Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports, including women's swimming and diving, within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
