Pride Swim & Dive Sweeps Senior Day Meet

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College swimming and diving team closed out its home schedule by sweeping all aspects of Saturday's meet at the Regis Pool, with the women defeating both Elms College, 122-32, and Western New England, 119-117, while the men finished ahead of Elms, 89-12.

The Pride women prevailed thanks to eight swimming event overall victories, highlighted by a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 backstroke. Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.) won the event in 1:06.66, followed by Olivia Roux (Sanford, Maine) in 1:07.49 and Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.) in 1:11.29.

Miller also won the 50 butterfly in 30.73 seconds and swam the second leg of the 200 freestyle relay, teaming with Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.), Roux, and Adelfio for an overall time of 1:51.12. Luhnau won three events individually, touching the wall first in the 50 breaststroke in 35.30 seconds, the 50 freestyle in 27.20 seconds, and the 100 freestyle in 1:03.68.

Adelfio finished first in the 1650 freestyle with an overall time of 21:32.10, while Roux picked up an individual victory in the 50 backstroke in 31.12 seconds. Vera Rivard (Springfield, N.H.) contributed to the Pride's team success by finishing third overall in the 1650 freestyle in 22:17.86 and second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:41.56.

In one meter diving, Cashman Murphy (Westwood, Mass.) posted a five-dive score of 167.15 and a six-dive score of 243.80 for an 11-dive total of 410.95, the third time this season she has surpassed the 400-point mark.

On the men's side, Michael Curtis (Burlington, Mass.) broke his own six-dive school record with a score of 161.65, plus he earned a five-dive score of 113.90 earlier in the meet. Liam Austin (Boston, Mass.) finished with scores of 112.00 for five dives and 129.75 for six dives.

In the swimming events, Curtis completed the 1650 freestyle in 23:45.43, while Samuel Madriz (Union, N.J.) posted personal season-best times of 58.45 seconds in the 100 butterfly and 55.43 seconds in the 100 freestyle. Aryaman Nagaraj (Watertown, Mass.) earned a personal season-best time of 52.57 seconds in the 100 freestyle, just ahead of Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa) at 52.64 seconds.

Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) posted times of 30.69 seconds in the 50 breaststroke, 1:06.35 in the 100 breaststroke, and a season-best 4:32.17 in the 400 individual medley, with Werner just behind him in the 400 IM at 4:36.94. Nagaraj, Kim, Werner, and Madriz combined for a time of 1:48.22 in the 200 medley relay.

Before the meet, Adelfio and Murphy were honored in a Senior Day presentation, and the updated banner listing recent NEISDA individual champions was unveiled listing Murphy's 2022 NEISDA title in three meter diving.

Regis College will compete at the 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 3-5 at the Boston Sports Institute in nearby Wellesley, Mass.
