Pride Women’s Swim and Dive Splits Friday Double Dual Meet

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Regis College women's swimming and diving team began a busy weekend by splitting a double dual meet Friday afternoon, defeating Elms College, 114-48, but losing to host Colby-Sawyer College, 147-75, at the Knight Natatorium.

The Pride earned two overall victories in swimming events, beginning with a 1-2 finish in the 100 backstroke as Olivia Roux (Sanford, Maine) touched the wall first with a personal season-best time of 1:07.58. Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.) finished second in the event with a time of 1:12.23.

Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.) picked up the other swimming event victory for the Pride, cruising to the win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:25.89. Adelfio also led off Regis' 200 freestyle relay, teaming with Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.), Luhnau, and Roux for a second place finish in an overall time of 1:58.00.

Cashman Murphy (Westwood, Mass.) once again competed in both diving events, finishing first in the one meter diving session with a six-dive score of 202.80. Murphy then posted a score of 207.60 in the three meter diving event, her best six-dive total of the season.

Besides her performance in the 100 backstroke, Luhnau also finished second in the 50 backstroke in 33.51 seconds and the 50 freestyle in 28.51 seconds. Roux finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:17.94 as well as third in the 100 individual medley in 1:11.69.

Miller also posted two runner-up performances, touching the wall second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 13:45.10 and in the 100 individual medley in 1:10.30.

Regis College (4-8 in dual meets) will head right back into competition Sunday, Jan. 15, starting at 2 p.m. at Gordon College for a double-dual meet also involving Husson University. The Pride will then conclude the regular season next Saturday, Jan. 21, against Elms and Western New England in a Senior Day meet beginning at 11 a.m. at the Regis Pool.
