Pride Women’s Swim and Dive Competitive at BSU Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Regis College women's swimming and diving team produced several top finishes to end up third as a team at the Bridgewater State Invitational Saturday at the Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Pool.

Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.) picked up the team's lone event victory of the afternoon, touching the wall first in the 100 individual medley with a time of 1:06.57, 2.3 seconds in front of her nearest competitor. In addition, Luhnau finished eighth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.84 and seventh in the 100 freestyle in 1:01.86.

Luhnau also assisted both relays in earning third place finishes, first joining Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.), Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.), and Olivia Roux (Sanford, Maine) to post a time of 2:03.57 in the 200 medley relay. She then teamed with Davinity Smallwood (Naugatuck, Conn.), Miller, and Roux in the 200 freestyle relay for an overall time of 1:51.64.

Adelfio finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:53.68, over 11 seconds faster than her previous season-best time. Smallwood finished third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:25.56 as well as fifth in the 500 freestyle in 6:04.64.

Individually, Roux collected three top-six finishes, placing fourth in the 50 freestyle in 27.31 seconds, fifth in the 100 individual medley in 1:11.02, and sixth in the 100 backstroke in 1:08.14. Miller posted two top-five placements, ending up fourth in the 50 backstroke in 31.42 seconds and fifth in the 100 backstroke in 1:07.35.

Vera Rivard (Springfield, N.H.) finished in third place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:54.23. Cashman Murphy (Westwood, Mass.) competed in the three meter diving event, finishing in third place with an overall score of 200.75, just 7/10ths of a point behind the second place competitor.

The Regis College women's swimming and diving team will open the 2023 portion of the schedule at Colby-Sawyer College in a double-dual meet also involving Simmons University Saturday, Jan. 7, beginning at 1 p.m.
