Regis Women Earn Key Event Victories for Dual Meet Win

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's swimming and diving team used its depth as well as a couple of key event victories to defeat Saint Joseph's College, 105-79, Saturday in a dual meet at the Regis Pool.

Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.) cruised to victory in the 200 freestyle by over four seconds with a season-best time of 2:13.58, with teammate Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.) finishing second in 2:18.02. In a close race that sealed Regis' overall victory, Adelfio won the 500 freestyle with a season-best time of 6:04.76, followed by Davinity Smallwood (Naugatuck, Conn.) in second place by 47/100ths of a second with a time of 6:05.25.

Vera Rivard (Springfield, N.H.) won the 200 butterfly in convincing fashion with a time of 2:48.43, plus she posted personal season-best times in the 1000 freestyle in 12:57.47 and the 200 backstroke in 2:35.94. Smallwood also finished second in the 1000 freestyle in 12:34.04 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:59.59.

Cashman Murphy (Westwood, Mass.) posted the first of two qualifying scores she needs to advance to the NCAA Diving Regional, earning personal collegiate-best scores of 177.70 for five dives and 432.45 for 11 dives, plus she was just 2/10ths of a point off her collegiate-best six-dive score after compiling a total of 254.75.

The Pride placed 2-3-4 in the 50 freestyle as Olivia Roux (Sanford, Maine) finished second in 27.46 seconds, followed by Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.) in 28.86 seconds and Grace Heffernan (Winchester, Mass.) in 32.23 seconds. Roux also finished third in the 100 freestyle in 1:01.33, just behind Luhnau in 1:01.16.

Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.) touched the wall second in the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:27.39 as well as third in the 200 backstroke in 2:30.33, just behind Miller's season-best time of 2:29.58. The quartet of Miller, Luhnau, Aptt, and Roux started the meet with a season-best time in the 200 medley relay at 2:03.25.

Regis College (3-5) hosts Elms College Friday evening, Dec. 2, starting at 6 p.m. at the Regis Pool.
