Women’s Swim Team Defeats Gordon College

WENHAM, Mass. – Thanks to victories in a majority of events, the Regis College women's swimming and diving team defeated Gordon College, 109-62, Friday night in a dual meet at the Bennett Center Natatorium.

The quartet of Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.), Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.), Vera Rivard (Springfield, N.H.), and Grace Heffernan (Winchester, Mass.) started the meet by winning the 200 medley relay with an overall time of 2:15.41, holding on to win by 16/100ths of a second. Miller went on to win the 200 individual medley by almost eight full seconds with a time of 2:38.63 as well as the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.72.

After finishing second in the 1000 freestyle in 12:36.59, Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.) touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:08.53. Davinity Smallwood (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished first in the 200 freestyle in 2:16.43, Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.) was victorious in the 100 freestyle by over three seconds with a time of 1:00.64, and Olivia Roux (Sanford, Maine) hit the wall first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.28 for a victory by over four seconds.

In the 200 freestyle relay, the final event of the evening, the team of Luhnau, Smallwood, Aptt, and Roux produced a convincing victory with a time of 1:52.50.

Regis College (2-3 dual meet record) will next compete in two weeks, traveling to Northfield, Vt., for a double dual meet against Norwich and Babson Saturday, Nov. 12, beginning at 12 p.m.
