Three Podium Finishes Saturday for Regis Women’s Swim & Dive

KINGSTON, R.I. – Members of the Regis College women's swimming and diving team reached the podium three times Saturday as competition continued at the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships at the URI Tootell Aquatic Center.

Cashman Murphy (Westwood, Mass.) picked up the Pride's highest placement of the day, finishing second in one meter diving with a total score of 396.95. Murphy's score was just 2.7 behind event winner Sarah Carls of Norwich.

Kyleigh Boatwright (Roseville, Calif.) earned her second individual trip to the podium by finishing third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.90. It was the first time she completed the race in under 1:02.00 since the 2019 NEISDA Championships and just 3/10ths of a second off her personal best established at that competition.

Boatwright capped the night by anchoring the 200 freestyle relay to a third place finish, joining with Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.), Thalia Bowie (Lexington, Mass.), and Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.) for a total time of 1:45.06, just 51/100ths of a second ahead of Stonehill College.

Earlier in the day, Aptt finished in fifth place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:49.36, while Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.) ended up in seventh place in 11:58.54. Boatwright, Julia Burke (Barrington, N.H.), Aptt, and Luhnau combined to finish in fourth place in the 200 medley relay with an overall time of 1:55.98.

Burke finished in seventh place in the 100 breaststroke with a finals time of 1:13.26 after qualifying with a preliminary time of 1:12.26. Bowie qualified for the B-final with a preliminary time of 1:13.11, then finished in fifth place in the evening to place 13th overall after posting a time of 1:13.32.

In the 50 butterfly, Laylan Harris (McKinney, Texas) touched the wall second in the B-final at 28.42 seconds to place 10th overall after a preliminary time of 28.15 seconds. Mallytza Ibarra Davila (Yuma, Ariz.) also scored points in the event by finishing 21st in the preliminaries with a time of 29.57 seconds.

During the preliminaries of the 100 backstroke, Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.) finished in a tie for 25th place with a time of 1:08.27, and Shawna MacNeil (Medford, Mass.) ended up in 31st place with a time of 1:11.51.

As a team, the Pride women remain in fourth place with 540 points, just 18.5 points behind third place Norwich and 11 points in front of fifth place University of New England.

The final day of the 2022 NEISDA Championships is Sunday, Feb. 27, with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. and finals scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
