Swim & Dive Teams Battle Babson, Norwich in Double Dual

WESTON, Mass. – In a double-dual swimming and diving meet Saturday afternoon at the Regis Pool, the Regis College women defeated Norwich University, 158-131, and competed with Babson College before falling, 164-109. The Pride men lost to both Babson and Norwich, while the Beavers defeated the Cadets in both men's and women's competition.

Regis was led by senior Julia Burke (Barrington, N.H.), as she finished first in both the 50 breaststroke in 33.36 seconds and the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.56. Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.) also picked up an event victory in the 500 freestyle, winning by almost 15 full seconds with a time of 5:49.22, and Cashman Murphy (Westwood, Mass.) finished first in the one meter diving six-dive event with a total score of 232.75.

Aptt also finished second in the 200 freestyle by just 11/100ths of a second with a time of 2:07.93 as well as in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.60. Kyleigh Boatwright (Roseville, Calif.) touched the wall second in the 50 backstroke in 30.22 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:05.29, plus she ended up third in the 100 individual medley in 1:06.71.

After placing third in the 50 breaststroke in 34.03 seconds, Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.) finished second in the 50 freestyle in 26.86 seconds. Thalia Bowie (Lexington, Mass.) finished behind Burke in second place of the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.31, and Murphy also ended up in second place in the one meter diving five-dive event after posting a score of 145.85.

Nikki Ansley of Norwich broke the Regis Pool record in the 50 butterfly as she finished first in 27.60 seconds. In one of the closest races of the meet, Ansley ended up 1/10th of a second behind Babson's Abby Voce in the 100 freestyle.

Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) led the Pride men with a second place finish in the 1000 freestyle in a season-best time of 11:00.99 as well as a time of 59.98 seconds in the 100 individual medley.

Robert Wood (Cathedral City, Calif.) posted personal season-best times in the 100 freestyle (54.79) and 200 freestyle (1:59.73), as did Bryce Toumayan-Miller (Natick, Mass.) in the 50 breaststroke (34.64) and 50 butterfly (28.74) and Sam Madriz (Union, N.J.) in the 50 butterfly (26.32) and 100 freestyle (56.79).

Babson's Josh Kim set three new pool records as he won the 50 breaststroke in 27.39 seconds, the 100 freestyle in 48.99 seconds, and the 100 individual medley in 54.29 seconds, defeating teammate Pat Anutarasoti by 5/100ths of a second. Anutarasoti did break the pool record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.35 seconds.

Both men's relays were competitive, starting with the 200 medley relay as Babson's B-relay defeated its A-relay by 1/100th of a second. In the 400 freestyle relay, Norwich's team made up a four-second deficit in the third leg and then held on to defeat Babson's quartet by 24/100ths of a second.

Regis College heads to Standish, Maine for a dual meet against conference rival Saint Joseph's College next Saturday, Nov. 20, starting at 12 p.m. The Pride will then host dual meets on consecutive days during the first weekend of December, taking on Elms Friday night, Dec. 3, and Husson Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Regis Pool.
