Boatwright, Madriz Receive GNAC Weekly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. – Coming off strong performances at Saturday's dual meet at Eastern Connecticut State, senior Kyleigh Boatwright (Roseville, Calif.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week, while sophomore Sam Madriz (Union, N.J.) has been named GNAC Men's Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Week, announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Boatwright once again led the Regis women's swimming and diving team during Saturday's double dual meet against Eastern Connecticut State and Stonehill. She defeated the ECSU swimmers in the 50 backstroke with a time of 30.26 seconds, placing second overall in the event.

After finishing third overall in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.18, Boatwright again touched the wall ahead of ECSU competitors with a third place overall finish in the 100 individual medley in 1:07.36. She also anchored the 200 freestyle relay with a 50 free split of 26.99 seconds.

Madriz enjoyed another solid overall performance during Saturday's dual meet at Eastern Connecticut State. He finished second in the 100 butterfly in 59.57 seconds and in the 50 butterfly in 26.57 seconds, cutting 0.44 seconds off his previous collegiate best mark set two weeks ago.

This is Boatwright's second career GNAC weekly award, as she was named GNAC Rookie of the Week Feb. 25, 2019, after her performance at the NEISDA Championships. In his first collegiate competition season, Madriz earns his first GNAC weekly award as well as the first for the Regis men's swimming and diving team since Feb. 17, 2020.

Regis College next competes in a home double-dual meet, welcoming Norwich University and Babson College to the Regis Pool Saturday, Nov. 13, for a 1 p.m. start.
