Regis Swimming and Diving Continues Season at Roger Williams Invite

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Regis College swimming and diving team hit the road for the first time in the 2021-22 season, posting solid performances at the Roger Williams Invitational Saturday at the RWU Aquatics Center.

The quartet of Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.), Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.), Alexa Lancisi (Milford, Mass.), and Kyleigh Boatwright (Roseville, Calif.) posted a second place finish in the 200 medley relay in 2:01.51. Boatwright followed with a third place finish in the 200 freestyle in 2:10.32, followed by Laylan Harris (McKinney, Texas) in fifth place in 2:11.89.

Harris also finished fifth in the 50 freestyle in 27.03 seconds, just ahead of Luhnau in sixth place in 27.63 seconds. Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.) would post a strong time of 1:05.32 in the 100 butterfly to finish second in that event, and then Boatwright touched the wall second in the 100 freestyle in 58.16 seconds, just 6/100ths of a second behind first place.

The Pride women finished third in the 200 freestyle relay as Harris, Mallytza Ibarra Davila (Yuma, Ariz.), Aptt, and Thalia Bowie (Lexington, Mass.) combined for a time of 1:50.33. After Boatwright finished fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.55, she led off the 400 freestyle relay, joining with Aptt, Lancisi, and Luhnau for a second place finish in 4:04.62.

Robert Wood (Cathedral City, Calif.) finished eighth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.12, plus he finished 11th in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.07 and 12th in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.12. Sam Madriz's (Union, N.J.) top placement was 10th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:01.83.

The Regis swimming and diving teams return to dual meet competition next week, traveling to Willimantic, Conn., to face Eastern Connecticut State next Saturday, Oct. 23, starting at 11:30 a.m.
