
BEARS TAKE DOWN PRIDE IN FIRST DUAL MEET
The Bridgewater State College Bears defeated Regis College, 157.5-57.5, in a women’s swimming and diving event on Friday night at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater. The meet marked the home opener for Bridgewater (1-1) while it was the first dual meet of the season for Regis (0-1).
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State College Bears defeated Regis College, 157.5-57.5, in a women's swimming and diving event on Friday night at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool in Bridgewater. The meet marked the home opener for Bridgewater (1-1) while it was the first dual meet of the season for Regis (0-1).
Haley Bowen (Litchfield, N.H.) took home the top spot in the 100 yard breastroke posting a time of 1:16.48. Yassyra Diaz (Dorchester, Mass.) finished second in the 100 yard freestyle event with a time of 1:02.60, while Megan Kennelly (Milford, Mass.) placed just outside the top three with a time of 1:05.13.
Anna Kudsi (Dover Foxcroft, Maine) finished second in the 1,000 yard freestyle even with a time of 12:51.23 while Kelsey-Jane Wright (Lowell, Mass.) also grabbed a second place finish in the 500 yard freestyle even with her time of 6:27.19.
For Bridgewater, sophomore Chelsea Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) and freshman Taylor Brochu (Cotuit, Mass.) each won a pair of individual events for the Bears. Nolan placed first in the 1,000 freestyle (12:00.03) and 500 freestyle (6:08.22), while Brochu was the first to touch the wall in the 50 freestyle (27.41) and 100 backstroke (1:07.24).
Regis returns to the pool on Saturday night when the Pride travels to Maine to take on the University of New England in a 1:00 p.m. meet.
