school record in the 200-yard fly Saturday in The Commonwealth
Coast Conference Invitational. Caliendo was part of a men’s
swimming team that took second overall with a score of 295.
Christina Estrada (Bellingham, Mass./Blackstone Valley Tech) earned
second place in the 200-freestyle.
The men’s team beat out four other TCCC schools to capture
its second place finish. While the women’s team had a tough
start to the invite, Estrada and senior Lindsay Ranahan (Hingham,
Mass./Hingham) did swim exceptionally well in their respective
events.
Ranahan finished second in the 200-backstroke. Both Estrada and
Ranahan helped the Pride women to a top five finish with a score of
187.
The men‚s 200-freestyle team of Djordje Mandic, Andy
Laforest, Adam Millerick, and Nick Yerzyk took second place,
beating out host team Roger Williams, Gordon College, and
Colby-Sawyer to round out the top five.
The team‚s 1:34.14 time earned the men‚s team 26
points, and was just five seconds shy of first place. Ben Perry
(Chicopee, Mass./Chicopee) and Stephen McGovern (Dorchester,
Mass./Boston College) joined Mandic and Laforest in 400-medley
relay to finish fourth with a time of 4:06.17.
On the women‚s side, Estrada and Ranahan helped Megan Pratt
(Rockland, Mass/Rockland) and Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass./Waltham
Senior) in the 200-medley relay to a sixth place finishing time of
2:07.62.
Given that the teams had a tough swim earlier in the day, both
teams had much better nighttime events.
The two teams will travel to swim against Norwich and Bentley on
December 11.
