PRIDE SWIM TO CLOSE FINISH VERSUS PLYMOUTH STATE

WESTON, Mass.—Sophomore Christina Estrada took first place in two events Friday, but her efforts were not enough for Regis College to take Plymouth State in swimming. The Plymouth State Panthers sank Regis College 124-112.

Estrada captured victories in the 1000-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle. She swam a 11:54.43 in the 1000, seven seconds faster than the second place Plymouth State swimmer. And she sped to the finish line with a first place time of 58.82 in the 100.

Teammate Lindsay Ranahan earned the Regis College program first place points in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.56, narrowly escaping the Panthers Brittney Gondek. She had a more impressive hold on the 2:33.89 that she captured in the 200 individual medley. Ranahan also earned a top three finish in the 200 free, and was just milliseconds from beating out the first place time of 2:10.02.

This was Regis’ fourth meet of the season. With the loss to Plymouth State, Regis College is now 0-4 overall. The Pride will look to capture its first win of the season Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1:00 p.m. versus Gordon College.
