ESTRADA PERFORMS WELL IN LOSS TO CORSAIRS 174-85

Weston, Mass---The Regis College women's swimming and diving team opened their 2010-11 season Saturday (Oct. 23) at UMass Dartmouth.  The Pride had some impressive performances by their swimmers but was not able to defeat the Corsairs who won 174-85.

The Pride was led in the 200 medley relay by Lindsey Ranahan (Hingham, Mass.), Christina Estrada (Bellingham, Mass.), Megan Kennelly (Milford, Mass.), and Kelsey-Jane Wright (Lowell, Mass.) who captured second place with a time of (2:07.17).  Estrada had an impressive day winning the 500 freestyle with a time of (5:48.32). She continued this impressive performance with a second place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of (12:03.98). Estrada finished the day with a third place finish in the 50 breaststroke (36.94). 

Senior captain Lindsey Ranahan won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08. She then went on to clinch a pair of second place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 100 IM with respective times of (2:14.50 and 1:12.51). Megan Kennelly added to the Pride's depth with a second place finish in the 100 freestyle and a third in the 50 fly. Kelsey-Jane Wright secured a third place finish in both the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Finishing the day for the Pride was Megan Kennelly, Melissa Moore (Dedham, Mass.), Jackie Penwarden (Rockland, Mass.) and Stephanie Burke (Dorchester, Mass.) who acquired a second place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. 

The Pride's next matchup is against Bridgewater State College Friday (Oct. 29) at 6:00 pm
