ESTRADA  AND RANAHAN LEAD PRIDE TO VICTORY OVER CHARGERS

Weston, Mass—The Regis College women’s swimming and diving team competed this past weekend against Colby-Sawyer College.  The Pride was successful in defeating the visiting Chargers by a score of 124-122.  The Pride improves its overall record on the season to 3-9.

The women were led by Christina Estrada (Bellingham, Mass./Blackstone Valley Tech) who took first place in three events for the Pride. Estrada finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle, 100 butterfly and the 100 breast stroke.

Sophomore Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) continued to set the tone for the Pride. Pratt took first place in the 200 freestyle with a strong time of 2:20.09.  The Pride sustained two more first place finishes from Lindsey Ranahan (Hingham, Mass./Hingham). Ranahan’s superb backstroke technique helped her achieve first place times in the 50 backstroke and the 100 backstroke.

Megan Kennelly (Milford, Mass./Milford) finished the day for the Pride. Kennelly won the 500 freestyle for the Pride recording a time of 6:24.15. Estrada, Pratt, Kennelly, and Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass./Waltham)completed the day for the Pride with a solid first place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.

The Pride will have their next competition on Saturday (Jan. 29) against Elms College at 11:00 a.m.
