ESTRADA, PRATT, AND RANAHAN FINISH FIRST FOR PRIDE IN WIN

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men’s and women’s swimming team hosted Mount Saint Mary College this past weekend.  Both squads performed well and defeated the visiting Knights from Mount Saint Mary College. The men won by a score 102-70, and the women won by the score of 102-97.

 Leading the Pride on the women’s side was Christina Estrada (Bellingham, Mass./Blackstone Valley Tech.) who finished first in the 1000 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and the 500 freestyle events. Lindsay Ranahan (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) took first place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle events. Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) took a first place finish in the 100 butterfly event.

In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the Pride finished in first place with a solid time of 2:01.63.  The relay consisted of strong performances from the following swimmers:  Megan Kennelly (Milford, Mass./Milford), Kelsey-Jane Wright ( Lowell, Mass./Academy of Notre Dame), Melissa Moore (Dedham, Mass./Dedham),  and Steph Burke (Dorchester, Mass./South Boston).

The Pride finished the day with a first place performance in the 200 medley relay. Ranahan, Estrada, Pratt and Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) recorded a time of 2:06.26 to win the event.

The Pride’s next event will be Saturday (Jan. 22) against Colby-Sawyer College with both men’s and women’s set to start competition at 1:00 p.m.
