WOMEN TAKE ON WESTFIELD STATE IN LAST MEET OF REGULAR SEASON

WESTON, Mass.—Lindsay Ranahan (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) had two top three finishes Wednesday as the Regis College women’s swimming and diving team lost 115-91 to Westfield State. Several other swimmers were credited with top five finishes in other heats.

Ranahan earned first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:09.36, while finishing the 100-freestyle in 1:00.44. Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) had a 50-backstroke best time of 33.27. Ranahan finished with a blazing time of 27.96 in the 50-freestyle.

Burns and Kelsey-Jane Wright (Lowell, Mass./Academy of Notre Dame) had times of 1:13.93 and 1:14.19, respectively, in the 100-backstroke. Stephanie Burke (Dorchester, Mass./South Boston) and Natalie Knight (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico/Antilles) posted times of 1:32.32 and 1:40.78, respectively, to finish first and second in the 100-backstroke.

This was the women’s last meet of the season before qualifying swimmers and divers compete in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships (Feb. 12) in White River Junction, Vermont.
