NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Regis College women's soccer battled in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup against Albertus Magnus College on Saturday, but could not break through in the second half resulting in a 1-1 draw at Celantano Field.
The Falcons took charge at the start of the match, with Erina Ismaili to score the first goal of the game, leading 1-0. Regis responded with multiple shots towards the end of the first half, with Sienna Santiago (Brewster, N.Y.) and Janet Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) both hitting the crossbar just minutes before the end of the first half, to trail by one.
After a shot by Payton Bridge (Norton, Mass.) was blocked, The Pride gained offensive opportunity with a corner kick. In the 58th minute of action, Maeve Glavin (Norwood, Mass.) found the back of the net to create an even playing field, tying the match, 1-1. The Pride continued to pressure the Falcons taking multiple shots but could not get past goalie, Amy Stevens.
Despite taking six shots in the second half, featuring four from Avary Hall (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), the Pride were unable to score, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
Albertus led the match 13-10 in shots, while Regis led 4-3 in saves.
Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) faced five shots in the 90 minutes she played while Stevens from the Falcons faced four shots and made three saves.
Regis (5-4-3, 4-2-3 GNAC) is scheduled to travel to Tufts University on Monday, Oct. 7 with a 7:00 p.m. start time, while Albertus Magnus (6-3-2, 4-3-1 GNAC) is set to travel to Elms College on Tuesday, Oct. 8, for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
